Getting To Know Your Opponent  The Fish

Out of the 6 basic groups of animals that we share this great planet with fish are one of them. They are vertebrae and are the most diversified of this grouping. The first fish to became know was over 500 million years ago and had no jaw.
with the fish there are three groups:

1.Cartilagious
The main component that keeps this group of fish together is their cartilage tissue as opposed to bone. This is what makes them significantly different from the bony fish.

2. Bony
These fish have a skeleton and are the fish that are most common to us and the most plentiful.Their main characteristics are owning a bony carcass, and they have the slippery scales that we are so familiar with. Going back to the first of these types of fish they were found to be very streamlined characterized by large mouths and eyes. Originally they had very thick scales, but as time has evolved their scales have become much thinner.

3. Lobe-finned
These are the fish that eventually evolved from the jawless fish over time. The bases of their fish are fleshy giving them strength and agility. This group of fish are all but extinct now.

Now that you have a little history of the three main groups of fish, you are really going to want to read our future articles on the types of fish that you will most likely be interested in as your opponent. This could range from fresh to salt water, but there is no shortage of them by any means waiting to take you on as a worthy opponent.
